Place makes me sad.....feels like it used to be good and now they don't care. Sashimi combo came out with cubed pieces of leftover cuts that were impossible to chew, sent it back, and returned with sliced, normal cuts. Waitress approached anticipating that the fish was bad....fresh raw fish doesn't have much of a margin...I don't see why this is ok. Sukiyaki was dry, tough, overcooked over a lot of rice. Duck ramen was exactly that: bowl of thin flavorless broth with noodles and a few sliced duck. Everyone at the table had indigestion that night.
MoreHave always loved this lovely little neighborhood restaurant. I so appreciate the care and effort they’ve put in to stay afloat during the shut down. I’ll admit, my family and I have been very hesitant to order out with everything that’s been going on, but we love Maneki Neko so much we can’t stay away. All the staff are in face masks and the shop is extremely clean. The food has always been good and that hasn’t changed a bit! Much love to all the hard working staff in this difficulty time. We’ll be back ASAP. ♥️
MoreReminds me of the great Japanese food I enjoyed growing up in LA.
Absolutely outstanding!! I am a HUGE fan of their Katsu Donburi and this is the place that finally got me to try sushi. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and have made me feel at home every time I go in.
MoreBest sushi I've had in 3 countries & 16 states
I have eaten Japanese restaurants all over the world and this local Japanese restaurant is one of the best. The food is exceptional high quality, the Itamae (Japanese Chef) is outstanding with excellent knife skills, and the customer service and welcoming feel makes me come back again and again and again.I can’t say enough good things about Maneki Neko.
MoreDelicious food when very quick service. We had the ramen with chicken broth. It had great flavor.
MoreWe enjoy to go out. Yesterday we visited this fine place which we didn’t know before. We passed a delightful experience there with fine meal and a well-trained stuff and a distinguished chef. We added this fine restaurant in our list and we shall surely return very soon. Highly recommended.
MoreItadakimasu! Delicious vegetarian offerings, sake, and attentive service. The head sushi chef is delightful.
MoreThe food was delicious and the atmosphere was nice, customer service was also great. I traveled from Maryland so we drove quite a distance but it was certainly worth it.
MoreSuper friendly staff. Great place to bring kids for Japanese.
Excellent dining. Great sushi experience.
This restaurant is a true gem in the small City of Falls Church. You will see the owner chief's sincere passion to make not only sushi , but also other genuine Japanese cuisine once you taste a bowl of plain white rice, what other "Japanese-style restaurants" totally neglect. This restaurant uses true short-grain rice for its sushi-rice as well as for other dishes unlike others using medium-grain cheap rice.
MoreVery nice restaurant, sushi was fresh, good service. Will come back.
Had katsudon (Chicken Cutlet and Egg Rice Bowl) for the first time here and it was delicious. The rice especially was chewy and seasoned slightly. Service is fast.
MoreGood service, good food.
The secret is the soup. Most people will come here for the sushi, but the ramen menu is just as amazing. Rich broth with a creamy piece of pork belly
MoreOverall tasty and good my only gripe was I got one piece of salmon with alot of tendon. I dont mind the chew and quite often the extra mouth feel but my girlfriend wasn't a fan. Rice was well cooked and flavorful. Service was prompt and quick. The atmosphere is cozy but not like you have to dress up and the prices were very reasonable.
MoreYour don't have to be a local to truly appreciate the level of quality, customer service and decor of Maneki Neko. The restaurant layout is traditional to what you might experience in parts of Japan and sushi is top notch. Expect the same quality level with their noodle and other entrees.
MoreExcellent place to get some food when in a rush. Their service is quick, pricing is convenient, good mood. Will come back again
MoreThe restaurant has decent food like another Japanese restaurant. Then why do I give a five star? I lost an umbrella three months ago and could not find it anywhere. I happened to visit back this restaurant and was surprised that the sushi chef remembered me and gave my umbrella back to me. He said he had been waiting for me to come back to pick it up! For the attitude and care I received from the restaurant, it is a five star
MoreThis is a fantastic restaurant. The sushi is delicious and so are their entrees. The price is reasonable for what you get and the restaurant is very clean. Staff is also friendly. All in all, a great restaurant.
MoreFresh japanese food in a quiet clean place.
This restaurant is amazing, and the owner was very kind. This is the best sushi I've ever had in the DMV area.
MoreWarm and cozy place for traditional Japanese food. The setting is a bit small, but the staff is very nice. The staff even seated a large party while I was there. You can watch sushi being made from the bar or enjoy the NHK Japanese TV channel being played. The Okinawa Soba was just like the kind served in Japan. While the Chicken Curry had more chicken and less veggies than I would have preferred, the dishes were all delicious nonetheless.
MoreAlways delicious. Family friendly too.
Their food is soooooo good! I also always have great service. I got the bento box with pork and chicken. It's very filling and comes with soup to start. Their avocado rolls are delicious. They're my favorite, ever.
MoreAnother great sushi treat from Maneki. This place is intimate with a rich offering of sushi, sashimi, temura, and ramen. A gem in The Little City!
MoreGreat japanese food that is authentic. Very reasonably priced and great sushi service.
MoreFantastic sushi, excellent lunch specials, especially the bento box. Go during the weekdays (except Friday) for the sushi specials. Their soba noodles are definitely worth checking out.
MoreBest Japanese place in the area. I like the combination of great sushi and great non-sushi Japanese food.
MoreBest sushi around!! Go see my boy Tao!
Delicious Japanese food. I have several friends who were raised in Japan and they say this is this most authentic food they've found in the states.
MoreI regularly come purchasing some food in this place. I enjoy the fast customer service and well prepared food. Great work.
MoreGreat food, great service
Favorite sushi place! Their lunch special is awesome and you can get it on Saturdays and Sundays. A lunch bento box with two orders or sushi, sashimi, etc plus salad, rice, and miso for $10. We also really like their tempora udon noodles. It’s very tasty and served with shrimp and veggie tempora. It’s a little on the sweet side but very good. Also $10.
MoreNice vibes and super welcoming service. The meals were crisp and delicious. Will clearly recommend this spot to friends and family. Convenient rates and large portions. Keep up the great work.
MoreI eat in this nice place often! This is my favorite spot to pass a nice evening. I go to this spot routinely. The meals are excellent, the workers are courteous and the price is affordable. I enjoy going in this spot over a rich supper.
MoreBest ramen in the area!
Great food! Great service as well!
Maneki Neko is a lovely Japanese restaurant serving variety and quality that you wouldn't otherwise expect to find in Fairfax. The space is small and standard and is often nearly devoid of diners (at least during weekend lunch hours, which is the only times we've been; I can see it quite full during weekday lunch as they offer great bento deals, or at dinner). There is always a special board displaying at least a dozen unique or seasonal offers; it's here that you'll find more interesting fare. Fish is fresh but the noodles are where you'll find complex, delicious flavors. Udon is tasty and ramen is spot-on. Service is warm and accommodating. Really great spot if you're ever in the area.
MoreThis is an eulogy for what used to be a great, authentic Japanese restaurant. Amazing how quickly the quality has plummeted. The finess and flavor are gone, all that remains is the now greasy, worn out shell of what used to be a hidden gem in Falls Church.
MoreThis place has amazingly fresh and delicious sushi, and the interior seating itself feels surging and pleasantly comfortable. It’s definitely the best Japanese place in WHATS probably a 50 mile radius.
MoreBest ramen in all of the DMV and costs less than every other "ramen" shop. Friendly staff who are willing to answer any questions you might have if you're unfamiliar with Japanese cuisine. Highly recommended. Support local restaurants. Chain ramen shops ain't got s#!+ on Maneki Neko!
MoreBest sushi in the DC metro area at any price! Tonight we ate at Maneki Neko and they were preparing an order for the Japanese Embassy. If you don't take my word for it, listen to the Embassy staff!
MoreThis is an absolute Gem!! We lived in Okinawa for 3 years and have not found anywhere since weve been back to the states to have okinawa Soba and Gyoza! The owner is such a wonderful man and the entire staff is amazing and so friendly! On top of all of this they import okinawan Orion Beer and it is by far our favorite beer and we haven't had it since we left okinawa. This is our new date spot and family spot we just left and can Not wait to come back!!!!!
MoreGreat local restaurant. Very family friendly with great service and good food. Be sure to check out the specials board as they often forget to talk about or point it out.
MoreMy go to to for solid Japanese fare and comfort food.
Authentic sushi, varied menu (although I only seen to be able the Sushi Deluxe dinner, it is SO GOOD).
MoreFresh buttery fish. Great service at a reasonable price. Seating is limited
